From the 2023-24 Board President Barb Clark:

We are excited to announce our new officers.  The Leadership structure consists of some new members and some returning members.  The three co-executives are Barbara Clark (business), Beth Jones (advocacy) and Amy Bolman-French(events).  The other members of the Board are Sallie Fahey (environmental sustainability), Lori Miller (secretary), Angie Delworth (communications), Denise Ottinger (treasurer), and Lexi Denham and Anna Hampton (membership). Lynn Wood is managing the Voter (newsletter). For the last year, the Board Meetings have been conducted at TAF in the Arts Room.  The return to in-person meetings has been a welcome change.

The March 2023 Planning meeting was held at TAF and the group in attendance determined that the focus for LWVGL in the 2023-2024 year will be environmental sustainability and voter services.  Please follow the LWVGL calendar on the website for many important dates concerning voter registration and the LEAP project in Tippecanoe County.

Observer Corps continues to be an active committee.  This committee aims to strengthen transparency and accountability of elected/appointed boards and commissions.  Individuals will volunteer to observe a particular governmental unit on a regular basis and report on their observation of the meeting.  Ken Jones has taken over leadership of the committee.  Please reach out to him if you are interested in serving as an observer.

The Summer Meeting, formerly known as the Summer Pitch-In Lunch, was on August 26th at Happy Hollow Park.  Tom Murtaugh was the guest speaker.  He spoke about the many changes occurring in Tippecanoe County, the new animal shelter, walking trails, the need for increased mental health services and the LEAP project.  His presentation was informational as well as educational.

League Lunches and Mix and Mingles are back.  Attendance has been steady for these events.  Please look for dates, time and location for both events on the website calendar.  Locations are changing as Amanda Eldridge and Jan Walker try new venues in the area.
